A Recipe for Friendship

I was touched by Elkana's beautiful recipe below. It was published in the Moreland Primary School's newsletter. I am sure you've had one such recipe of your own. (Don't ask why I am so sure. Easy, its because you've read this posting). I posted it just because I thought you would love to try this one.

Reading Week

In the end of August, the Moreland Primary School held a reading week, together with other schools in Victoria. Five students, including Elkana, were asked to perform.

There was also a video shows made by the school staff who asking children about books they like. (Unfortunately I could not link the video here). It is a wonderful video. It does teach children on how easy it is to make a film and it appreciates our children views on books. It was educative and entertaining video!

elkana's emails

I am very happy to see Elkana's progress in writing emails. Looking at three emails he sent me in 2007 and 2005, I can see his improvement in his way of thinking, his English, and his ability to use internet.

Below email is written by Elkana with the help of Amir. It was sent in March 2005 when I was doing my research in Leiden, the Netherlands. In this email he did not use any English word. He also remembered very well his uncles, aunties and nieces.















The email below was sent to me in September 2005, also with the help of Amir. I was in Indonesia doing my fieldwork. In this email Elka only used few English and he still remembered his uncles and aunties in Indonesia.

This last email is written last month when elkana 8 years old. He wrote the letter himself from his email account.

Elka's Blog!

Elkana asked me what does "create blog" means when he watched me opening the blogspot page and writing my email address to sign in. I wanted to put Elkana's drawing and writing in the blog. When I explained to Elka about creating one own's blog, he really liked that idea and wanted to have his own blog. I helped him to set up what he wanted including creating his own email address. Wow I was so happy because I did not expect him wanted to create his own blog in this stage. He followed all procedures with patient and antusiastic including when signing up the email. Me and farhan and my mum made a promise we can get a toy or a game when we get 50 stars.
We can trade our stars cheap things and we could lose stars.If we want to get 50 stars we can do the dishes make the bed pack up toy serve food to mum and dad help people teach others.

My famliy and my famliy friend went to sydney.At the end of the year 2006 we went to the city and on the way there are to meny people so my famliy went to a shot way.then we had to wat for 5 minutes then the fireworks came.

When i make the pizza i put the tomatto first . Then i put the pineapple. then my mum cut the sausage. i put the cheese then my mum puts the sausage. then me and my mum put the pizza in the oven for 20 minutes. Then my mum open the oven then we eat the pizza.

In the galaxy there is planets armies and building and lots of machines. In republic and cis they have wars but they dot stop wars and they get armies because they make more armies. But they never stop makeing things they make nus and they make so many robots but they nevar be tems. they are not fres and they make leaders and they make weapons and lot of things to make. the republic have 75683 armies and cis have 61129 but the cis will make more that is 50.
